Week 3

During the 3rd week of this project, EMBARQ sent 17 volunteers and invested more than 130 hours in the rejuveNATION of Hinman Elementary.

Their employees demonstrated a tremendous work ethic, attention to detail, and hearts to make a difference—demonstrating EMBARQ's commitment to improving the quality of life for the local communities it serves.

Alongside EMBARQ, members from 7 local churches also volunteered their time in the rejuveNATION progress...

Following the week of work, Principal Angulo sent the following note for us to pass along to each church that helped:

"Please thank those kind folks from the...churches who showed up to perform such a grand act of service. They were such a joyful group of people. I speculate they understand that true joy only comes while serving others. Their happiness with this act of service while receiving no monetary incentive reminded me of the quote by Par Lagerkvist, "He for whom a pebble has value is surrounded by treasure wherever he goes." They have discovered the key to happiness.

Again, I can't tell you what a difference this rejuvenation has already made. The feeling of the school is strikingly different. I am sure the Hinman students, parents and teachers will feel "rejuvenated" when they see (feel) our new school building.

Thanks,
Ann Angulo"

The JATC continued their amazing work!  With another class of students, the JATC invested another four days at Hinman finishing in two weeks what had originally been estimated to require three!

Sherwin-Williams makes it all possible!

One of the true heroes in this rejuveNATION project is Sherwin-Williams who not only donated all of the paint, but also saw to it that either through their own stores or through their vast network of suppliers we had everything necessary (brushes, rollers, tape, plastic, hand-maskers, rags, buckets, bucket grids, and much more...) to do a professional job!

Adding an educational touch to the school, professional muralists used the freshly painted walls as  canvases for murals—donating their gifts and talents to add to the rejuveNATION of the school...
